Morgan County burn ban has expired.  It will resume 5/1/2019.  While burning, please use good judgement and burn your brush in a safe manner.

We recently received a new tool to assist us in the event someone's heart stops.  It is called the Lucas 2.  It is a machine that performs perfect chest compressions on an adult- it performs the compressions at the proper rate and depth for an adult.  This will help improve our ability to save someone's life in the event they need CPR.  We would like to thank all of those who helped us afford this magnificent life-saving device.

***Update***  In April we deployed this device for the first time.  With the assistance of this device we were able to restore the heartbeat to a person whose heart had stopped.  This machine paid for itself after its first use!

Welcome to the Priceville Volunteer Fire Department!

This is the Priceville Volunteer Fire Department located outside of Decatur, AL.  We are a department of 30+ dedicated individuals who respond to over 700 calls per year.  In 2008, we were evaluated by Insurance Services Office (ISO for short) with a score of 4/9 in the city, and 5/9 outside of the city limits.  We welcome you to look at our site and see what we have going on in our community.  Please come back frequently as we update the information and calendars often.

MISSION STATEMENT

The goal of the Priceville Volunteer Fire Department is to provide the best quality response and care for the community and its property.  This will be accomplished professionally through prevention, education, and protection from life-altering emergencies.  This shall be accomplished through the three pillars of volunteer firefighting: commitment to our ideals of safety, strong leadership, and a positive public image.

IDEALS

Commitment to Safety: This needs to be any organization’s number one priority.  There are enough dangers inherent to firefighting without introducing some more by unmitigated, risk-taking behaviors.  The SOGs shall be written in a manner to ensure the safety of our crews, victims, and bystanders for every action we perform.  Any member reserves the right to not follow orders, whether direct or indirect, based upon a sincere belief that an order will cause harm to themselves, victims, or bystanders.

Strong Leadership: Providing guidance to motivate members of the department to meet and exceed the department’s goals.  The key is establishing the appropriate plan to reach the desired goals.  That can also include the preparation of members to accept future demanding roles in the department, preparing the department to meet the ever-changing demands of the fire service, and ensuring the department can meet the needs of a growing community.

Positive Public Image: Without a good image, the department will certainly fail.  We will not recruit new members, receive support from the members of the community, or receive adequate support from neighboring agencies.  Therefore it is a MUST to act in a professional manner at all times.

GOALS

-100% safe operation by our members.  In other words, we desire 0 injuries and 0 incidents.  This will be achieved through proper scene management, training, and leadership.

-At a minimum, we desire a six (6) minute response time to have at least one member on scene.  We owe it to the community to meet their needs in a timely manner.

-To have at least 75% of our membership certified through the level of Firefighter 1.

-To have at least 50% of our membership certified as EMT-B or above.

Fire Station 1: Bethel Road

This is our new station.  It was formerly a trucking company's service center, thus making it perfect to accommodate fire trucks.

This is where we meet on Tuesday nights.  This station is primarily for covering the area at the bottom of Price Mountain.  The map and address are below.

Fire Station 2: New Center Road

In 2008, we expanded this station to three bays to support our growing department.

The department recently added on to this station to accommodate the arrival of our new apparatus.  This station primarily covers the top of Price Mountain.
